The squirt pistol can be used as a backup weapon, a backup backup weapon, or a hidden weapon for a commander or POW. All or almost all squirt pistol use the squirt pistol varient of the piston system.

You're a POW, the enemy took your main weapon, but not your hidden squirt pistol. Your is attemping to rescue you and you distract the guard(s) with your squirt pistol while your team comes up and gets them from behind.
You're a commander and you're going to negotiations and you're supposed to be unarmed. Hide a squirt pistol in your clothing and have armed personal guards in earshot just in case the enemy has something up their sleeve.
